The bus stop conversation that made me rethink my whole workout plan
I was waiting at the 14th and Broadway stop last Tuesday when this older guy next to me started talking about how he trained for a marathon at 62 by just walking hills with a weighted vest. He said consistency beat intensity every time, and that hit me because I'd been killing myself at the gym 3 times a week then quitting for a month. I looked up the vest he mentioned, a 20 pound one, and now I'm doing 4 short walks a day instead of one brutal session. Has anyone else switched to a slower, steadier routine after hearing someone else's story like that?
