Some guy at the bus stop told me to quit my job and start a hot dog cart
I was complaining about my commute to this random dude in Portland and he dead serious said 'you should just sell hot dogs outside the courthouse, I know a guy who makes $400 a day.' I actually looked into it and found out you need like $15k in permits and insurance here. Has anyone else gotten wild life advice from a stranger that you actually considered for a second?

$15k?! That's insane. I thought it'd be like a couple hundred bucks for a cart.

That $15k number sounds like someone either got scammed or looked up the most expensive route possible. A friend in Seattle got a cart going for under $3k total, permits included. Maybe that guy just wanted you to think about it so he could sell you his overpriced cart.
