A client's 2-word note changed how I set up every job now
Last month I was trimming out a house in Portland and the homeowner left a sticky note on the door frame that just said 'look closer'. I thought it was about my miters, but they meant the baseboard gaps where the floor wasn't level. I used to scribble level marks on the wall with a pencil and move on, but now I snap a chalk line and check every corner with my 4-foot level before cutting. It adds maybe 20 minutes per room but I havent had to shim a single base since. Has anyone else had a customer point out something so basic you felt dumb for missing it?

Ha! Reminds me of the time a dog peed on my level and I didn't notice for a week.
