Warning: My quick note about a small win led to a surprise bonus
I never wrote down my good work at my job, thinking it was not needed. Then a friend told me how it helped her get a raise, so I tried it. I started jotting down little wins, like when I helped a team member finish a project early. Last month, I mentioned one of these notes in a casual chat with my boss. She was so happy with the example that she added a bonus to my next check. Now I see that keeping track of even small successes can really help. You should try it too, it takes just a minute each week.

Does that always work though? I worry it could come off as keeping score instead of just doing good work.

Are you telling me you don't check your bank balance or your workout stats? That's just seeing where you stand. My running app shows my miles, my bank app shows my savings growing. It's not about some weird competition, it's about knowing if you're moving forward or standing still. Calling that "keeping score" is like calling a gas gauge rude for telling you you're almost empty.
