Took me 7 weeks to get my CompTIA Security+ voucher reimbursed at my last job
I passed the Security+ exam back in March and paid the $392 exam fee out of my own pocket because my old company in Columbus promised fast payback. What I did not know was that their tuition help form needed a manager sign off, a finance code, and a scanned receipt under 2 MB. My manager left the company two weeks after I submitted it, so the approval got stuck in limbo. I sent 9 follow up emails and visited HR in person 3 times before anyone would even look at my ticket. It finally landed in my account 7 weeks later, minus a $50 processing fee nobody warned me about. Has anyone else dealt with a boss leaving in the middle of a reimbursement request? How did you get it unstuck?

Ran into the same wall when I moved apartments last year and the deposit took forever because the property manager quit mid request. Seems like the second one person leaves, your paperwork just floats in the void until you hunt down whoever inherited their desk. Nine emails and three HR trips sounds about right, that is just how these places work now.

Seven weeks is rough but honestly I would not have paid that voucher out of pocket in the first place. Most of these companies make you eat the cost if you quit or get laid off before some payback window passes, so you are basically loaning them money and hoping they pay you back. Next time get the approval and finance code in writing before you even schedule the test. And a $50 processing fee is something you should have raised heck about, that one is not normal.
