The $350 resume service that got me nowhere
I paid a local career coach in Austin $350 to rewrite my resume and LinkedIn last spring. She added a bunch of buzzwords and fancy formatting, but I got zero callbacks for two months. Honestly, I think ATS systems just hate those two-column layouts. Has anyone else shelled out for professional resume help and ended up worse off, or did I just pick a bad one?

Wait, did they actually send you a copy of what they submitted? Cause I used to think paying someone for a resume was a total scam, like why pay for something you can do yourself. But then my buddy paid one and got a way better response rate after he had them redo it in a single column with simple formatting, so I kinda changed my mind on the whole thing. Sounds like you got the wrong person though, cause those two column layouts are exactly what the robots can't read, everyone knows that by now. Maybe ask for your money back or have them fix it to a basic format, cause the buzzwords are useless if the system can't even scan it right.
