My old boss told me to always show up 15 mins early to meetings. Turns out he was just bad at scheduling.
I worked for this guy Dave at a marketing firm in Austin for 2 years. He drilled it into my head that being early shows respect. Last month I got a new job and showed up 15 mins early to my first team standup. Nobody else was there. My new manager pulled me aside and said the meeting starts at 9:30, not 9:15, and I was making other people feel rushed. Now I show up exactly on time. Has anyone else had a habit from an old job that backfired in a new one?

Right, 15 minutes early is just unpaid overtime with extra side of awkward.

Heard a buddy show up 20 minutes early once. Boss yelled at him for being late.
