Hit 5 years at my company last week and it kind of snuck up on me

I remember thinking I'd be lucky to stay 18 months when I started, but now I'm the one training new hires on stuff I barely understood back then, has anyone else had a job just casually turn into a decade?

18 months" huh? That's cute. I told myself I was just gonna "test the waters" at my current gig and now I'm pretty sure I've got permanent water stains (and a retirement plan I'm too scared to touch).

Gotta love that permanent water stain life... I swear my desk chair has a dent shaped exactly like me now. Started telling myself I'd just "give it a year" about four years ago and now I'm pretty sure I'm part of the furniture. The retirement plan thing hits different too - like I'm too scared to even look at the balance because I know I'll just get depressed about how little it actually is. We're basically professional swimmers at this point, just treading water until we forget what dry land feels like.
