Paid $300 for a storage lift, used it twice, now it's a coat rack

Bought one of those fancy ceiling-mounted car lifts back in 2021 thinking I'd finally stack my Miata above the truck. Turns out my garage ceiling is barely tall enough and I'm too nervous to use it with anything besides the lawnmower. Anyone else got a big-ticket storage gadget that just collects dust and takes up more space than it saves?

Flip that thing on its side and bolt it to the wall. I did that with my old winch and now it holds bikes and kayaks flat against the ceiling, saves way more room than the lift ever did. You just need some heavy duty shelf brackets and a weekend of cursing at stud finders. Cheaper than selling it at a loss too.
