TIL a $3 foam sleeping pad from the hardware store beats my $60 one
I forgot my nice pad at home on a trip to Buggs Island Lake two weeks ago and grabbed a thin blue foam pad from the hardware store on the way out, mostly out of panic. Slept better on that thing than I have in years. Turns out my fancy pad was too soft and I was sinking in and fighting it all night. Used the cheap one again last weekend on purpose, same result. Has anyone else gone backwards on sleeping pads and been happier?
Did you try putting it under your lower back or more toward the middle? Took me a couple weeks to find the right spot and it made a big difference. The cheap ones work fine but they wear down fast, so check if it's gone flat after a few months. If the foam gives out, that's when the aches creep back and you blame your back instead of the pad. Also try a thinner one if yours feels too firm, because too much lift can push your hips out of line and cause its own set of problems.
