The REI clerk who laughed at my $20 stove saved my trip
Tbh I was at the REI in Denver last month picking up fuel canisters for my old backpacking stove, and the guy at the counter saw it and straight up said 'you're gonna be eating cold beans with that thing.' I laughed it off but he insisted I test it right there in the parking lot, so I did, and the valve barely held pressure after 30 seconds. He showed me a $45 replacement that same day, and I swapped it on the spot, which sucked for my budget but saved my 4 day trip to RMNP. Has anyone else had a store employee actually save them from worse gear out there?
