My buddy swears by a $200 sleeping pad, but a $40 foam pad kept me warm at 8,000 feet in Utah last month
I camped near Mirror Lake in Utah last month with a guy who spent $200 on an inflatable pad, and his deflated at 2am while my $40 closed cell foam pad never failed. He kept talking about the R value on his box, but a number on cardboard does not help when you are shivering on cold ground. Has anyone else noticed that the expensive pads get all the reviews while the cheap foam ones just quietly work?
