The simple screwdriver trick nobody mentions in repair guides

I was trying to get a stuck screw out of a Yashica Electro 35 last weekend and realized half the online tutorials skip over using a rubber band for grip. That little trick saved me from drilling out the head and ruining the plate. Why do people leave out the basic hacks that actually work?

The rubber band trick works great until you hit a screw thats been loctited in place. Did you try heat first or just go straight for the rubber band?

Oh man, "straight for the rubber band" reminds me of something that happened to my buddy Kevin last summer... He was all confident trying to get this stripped screw out of his truck's bumper with the rubber band trick. It just spun and spun until the rubber band snapped and hit him in the face. He ended up having to drill the whole thing out and it took him like three hours. I still give him a hard time about it whenever we're working on something together.
