Fixed a sticky shutter on a Pentax K1000 with a drop of lighter fluid

Old camera shop guy told me this trick years ago but I never tried it till last week. Shutter was hanging up at slow speeds, like 1/8 and below. Dribbled a tiny bit of Zippo fluid on the blade pivot points, worked it a few times, and it's been smooth ever since. Anyone else use this method or is it just a quick fix that'll cause problems later?
