A customer brought in a perfectly clean Contax G2 from a flea market in Berlin

He said the seller told him it was 'too clean to work' and sold it as junk. I opened it up and the only issue was a tiny, hardened grease blob on one gear from sitting unused. Took 10 minutes to fix. Makes you wonder how many 'broken' cameras are just stuck from old lube. Ever had a super simple fix on something sold as totally busted?

Honestly that's a super common story with old electronics. People see something that won't turn on and just assume the whole thing is dead. Most of the time it's just a single bad capacitor or a dirty switch.

My dad's old VCR sat in the basement for a decade. I opened it up, cleaned the mode switch with some alcohol, and it worked right away. It's crazy how often the fix is just grime or one cheap part. People are so quick to toss stuff.

Used to think old gear was always a lost cause until I saw a story like this. Riley_miller25 is totally right about people jumping to the worst conclusion. Now I always check for simple fixes first.
