Appreciation post: A smooth mesh network setup this week, but the crew is split on methods
I had a house call where the Wi-Fi was weak in the back rooms, so I suggested a mesh system and got it running in no time. It was a quick fix that made the client really happy. However, a few guys at the shop say pulling new cable for access points is the only right way to do it for long term reliability. How do you all handle these situations?

My buddy's 1920s house has plaster so thick you'd need a jackhammer just to run cable, so I'm with jana_scott on this. The "only right way" crew probably still thinks you need to install a phone jack in every room. Sometimes a mesh kit that works is better than the perfect wired setup you'll never get hired to do.

Honestly mesh is the right call most of the time now. In an old plaster house or a rental, trying to run new cable is a nightmare and costs a ton. I've put in mesh systems for families and they're still solid years later, no dropped calls on the back patio. Sure, a perfect wired backhaul is great, but clients want a fix that works today without tearing up walls.

Totally get that. I've been there too with the plaster wall struggle, it's just not worth the mess.
