Picked the smaller firm over the big name, still second-guessing it

I had to choose between a large disability firm in LA and a solo lawyer in Fresno who'd handled SSDI for 12 years. I went with the solo because he answered my calls directly, but my hearing is in 3 weeks and I'm worried about his caseload. Has anyone else gone with a smaller practice and regretted it or been glad they did?

Big firm just means you get a fancy waiting room and a paralegal who mispronounces your name. At least this guy knows your file exists, right? Three weeks out, the real question is whether he's got a backup plan or just a really comfortable couch in his office.
