Just realized those disability lawyer TV ads aren't all scams

I was dead set against calling any of them for 6 months until my neighbor got approved for SSDI after 3 denials doing it alone, and I finally caved and talked to one who actually got my case moving in 8 weeks.

Just realized those disability lawyer TV ads aren't all scams" - man, I felt that. My buddy Jake was the same way, swore those ads were just money grabs. He'd been denied twice for his back issues and was about to give up completely. Then his cousin talked him into at least a consultation with one of those firms. Turns out they caught a mistake in his medical records from three years ago that was killing his case. The lawyer got it fixed and he was approved in like 5 months. He still hates the cheesy commercials but says the actual lawyers were nothing like the ads.

Jumped in here because @taylor_miller10 your buddy's story about the medical records mistake hit home. That's actually a bigger problem than people realize (I work in a completely unrelated field so I see this from the outside). The thing nobody talks about is how easy it is for doctors to copy and paste old notes into new records, and sometimes that includes a wrong diagnosis or a bad phrase that kills your credibility. A lawyer's first move should be to dig through your entire medical history for stuff like that, not just the last few visits. Most people give up after a denial because they think it's about their disability itself, but it's usually some dumb paperwork error or a bad note from a rushed doctor that gets you flagged.

Same thing happened to my uncle, totally wrecked his first claim.
