Applied to 3 CA disability lawyers and only one even called me back

I got denied for my back injury claim about 4 months ago and started reaching out to lawyers in the Sacramento area. Two of them had great reviews online but never answered my calls or emails after the initial intake. The one that did get back to me took my case but told me it could take 8-12 months just to get a hearing date. Kinda wondering if the big firms just ghost people who don't have obvious easy cases or if I just had bad luck. Anyone else run into this where lawyers just stop responding after you send your paperwork?

I called 4 firms in Fresno for my knee issue and 2 of them never even returned my voicemails after the initial chat lol. The lawyer I finally went with said big firms usually screen for cases under 10k or super clear denials because they cherry pick the easy wins. It sounds like you got unlucky with the ghosting but at least you found someone willing to take it, even if the wait is brutal.

Oh man, that's rough. I gotta say though, the part about firms only taking cases under 10k isn't quite right. Most of them actually look for cases that could be worth a lot more than that, like real serious injuries with big medical bills. The small stuff under 10k they usually pass on because it's not worth their time after expenses. You probably just got a lawyer who was being honest about how they pick and choose, which is more than most of them will tell you.
