My Dutch oven became a charcoal bunny incubator last night
I tried to slow-cook a rabbit stew for Easter dinner, set the oven to 300 and then got pulled into a 45 minute phone call with my sister about her new puppy. When I finally opened the lid, the rabbit bones were sticking out of a black brick that looked like a petrified hedgehog. I actually tried to save it by adding two cups of broth, which just turned the brick into wet charcoal. My kitchen still smells like a campfire that hates me. Has anyone else lost a meal to a phone call, or is my family just cursed with long stories?

My sister once talked me through a 20 minute recipe for dog treats while my beef stew turned into jerky on the stove. I feel like slow cookers are a trap, they make you think you have hours but really it's like 20 minutes of wiggle room before things go wrong. The broth trick never works, you just end up with soup flavored charcoal. Your kitchen will smell better by Thursday, mine took the whole week.
