Pro tip: I had to pick between a super neat weekly spread or a messy brain dump page.

I was setting up my journal for a busy week and felt stuck trying to make it perfect. I went with the brain dump, scribbled everything down in 5 minutes, and it actually helped me see what was really important. Do you guys ever skip the fancy layout and just write?

Right, @laurag79, so why do we even try to make it pretty first?

Oh man, I feel that! The messy brain dump always works better for me too. Trying to make it perfect just blocks me up, and getting it all out there cuts right through the noise.

It's like cleaning a really messy room. You don't start by arranging the bookshelf perfectly, you just grab a trash bag and get the big stuff out first. Same with cooking, you prep all the ingredients before you try to make the plate look nice. Getting the raw material out there is always step one, whether it's words, chores, or a weird art project.
