Heard a friend call her bullet journal a 'brain dump' and it clicked for me
We were having coffee yesterday and she was flipping through her journal, just putting in random thoughts and to-dos. She said, 'I don't make it pretty, I just use it to get stuff out of my head.' I've been stressing over making mine look perfect with colors and layouts for months. Seeing hers, which was just a simple notebook with quick notes, made me think I've been doing it wrong. I'm going to try her way for the next 30 days and just write things down fast. Has anyone else switched from a fancy setup to something more basic and stuck with it?

Wait, you think you were doing it wrong before? That's the part that bugs me. Your pretty journal still got you to write things down, right? The goal is just to clear your head, and there's no wrong way to do that. I tried the basic route and missed my colors, so I went back to a mix. Maybe after 30 days you'll find a middle ground that works better for you.

Totally, that part about no wrong way to do it is so true. I got stuck in the same loop of thinking my decorated pages were a waste of time if they weren't perfect. But like you said, the writing still happened. I forced myself to use a plain notebook for a month and just felt bored, my brain wouldn't open up. Now I keep some markers nearby for when I need a little color, but I don't stress if a page is just text. It's all about what actually gets you to put words on the page.

But is it really that deep though.
