Swore off our local buy-nothing group, now I'm hooked.
I always thought it was just junk trading, but seeing my neighbor get a perfectly good lawnmower changed my tune. Now I've scored free kids' clothes and a working coffee maker this month. My wallet's thanking me, and it's weirdly fun. Plus, it cuts down on trash, which is a nice bonus.

Does swapping stuff actually help the environment, or just your budget?

Our park's free table started this whole reuse trend.

Actually, free stuff exchanges were around way before that. Little Free Libraries have been on streets for over a decade, and online buy-nothing groups blew up years ago. My neighborhood had a "give and take" shelf in the community garden like eight years back. It's cool your park has one now, but the trend was already moving.
