Cash envelope method actually cost me more in ATM fees

Switched to cash envelopes for groceries back in March, but the nearest fee-free ATM is 14 miles away and I burned $32 in withdrawal charges by June, so has anyone else found a better way to stick to a food budget without the physical cash hassle?
