My old way of booking flights was costing me hundreds

I used to just search for direct flights on the big sites. Got a $450 ticket to Mexico City that way last year. Now I use a free app to track prices and book separate legs. Saved $220 on my trip to Lisbon by flying into Madrid first and taking a bus. Anyone else have luck with this split-ticket method?

Seriously, people forget the extra fees. That bus ticket from Madrid probably cost you, plus you had to get to the bus station. Sometimes the cheap flight just moves the cost around.
