Hot take: Everyone overpacks for Europe
I just got back from two weeks in Italy and my backpack weighed 9 pounds. I saw so many people struggling with giant suitcases on cobblestone streets and paying extra fees. The trick is to pack three tops, two bottoms, and wash stuff in the sink every few nights. It saved me about 80 euros in checked bag fees on budget airlines. What's the lightest pack you've managed for a long trip?

Washing stuff in the sink" sounds like a vacation chore to me.

You only packed three shirts? Did you just re-wear the same one when you spilled pasta sauce all over yourself?

Look at you judging someone's packing skills, @umar59. Three shirts is a solid plan if you know how to handle a spill and aren't afraid to do a little sink laundry. It's about being smart with your space, not about having a new outfit for every single meal. Honestly, rewearing a shirt you cleaned is way better than overpacking a giant suitcase for a short trip. Some of us like to travel light and figure things out as we go.
