My grocery bill was $12 under budget this week and it felt like a huge win

I finally nailed a meal plan using a big pack of chicken thighs and a bag of potatoes I got on sale. Made a giant pot of stew that lasted three dinners, and it was actually really good. Anyone else have a cheap ingredient that just keeps giving?

Yeah, dried beans are a total lifesaver for sure. Soaked a big batch of pintos last week and it made chili, burrito filling, and just a side dish. That cabbage idea from eva468 is smart too, really stretches a meal. Honestly, combining both is the real trick, makes everything more filling without much cost.
