Got roasted for using instant rice and it actually helped my budget
My sister-in-law saw me making burrito bowls with instant rice and called it lazy cooking. She said I was paying triple for the convenience. I timed it out and she was right, a 20 pound bag of regular rice costs me about $14 at the local grocery in Toledo and lasts two months longer than the boxed stuff. Stovetop rice takes 20 minutes but I just make a big batch on Sunday and freeze portions in sandwich bags. Has anyone else had a family member call out a shortcut that turned out to be a money drain?
