The cashier at the dollar store who clocked my coupon math

Last Tuesday I was at Dollar General in Wichita and tried to pay for a $4.50 pack of dog shampoo with two $1-off coupons. The teen at the register stopped me and said, "Sir, these are competitor coupons, they won't stack here." I argued for a minute until she pulled out a printed sheet from the manager that listed every brand exception. She was right, and she knew it better than I did after 10 years of bargain hunting. Has anyone else had a store clerk school them on policy in front of a line of people?
