My $12 coffee grinder died mid pot last Saturday and the repair guy said something that stuck with me
Last Saturday morning my $12 blade grinder just stopped dead halfway through a batch of beans, so I drove it to a small repair shop on 5th street expecting them to say it was done for. The guy behind the counter opened it, laughed, and said the motor was fine, I had just been running it in 10 second bursts for two years and cooked the switch. He swapped in a $4 part instead of selling me a new one, and it hit me that I had been pricing cheap stuff as disposable without ever checking if it could just be fixed. Now I'm second guessing every time I toss something small that quits on me. Has anyone else had a cheap thing fixed for less than the cost of replacing it?
