I finally looked up what a 'buy it for life' spatula costs vs what I paid, and the gap made me mad
I saw a stat on a reddit thread that the average person replaces their cheap kitchen spatula 4 times in 5 years, while a $28 stainless one from a restaurant supply store in Denver outlives it. I did the math on my own drawer, and I have burned through 3 plastic ones since 2022 at about $7 each, so I basically paid $21 to keep buying junk. My buddy says paying $28 upfront is dumb because he can grab a $3 one at a dollar store and not care when it melts. I say he is just renting a spatula forever. Where do you all draw the line between cheap now and paying more once?
