PSA: My old habit of dry-laying without a plan led to a huge mess
Ngl, back then we just stacked bricks and hoped for the best, but one wall leaned so bad we had to tear it down. Honestly, drawing a simple line now stops that headache.

Yeah, totally get that. Used to be so stubborn about just eyeballing it. That one time the whole section tipped over was finally enough to make me grab a pencil first.

Wait, the whole section tipped over? That sounds scary! I can't believe you didn't get hurt or something. It's wild how we skip steps until there's a big mess. I always thought those stories were made up, but here you are living it. Makes me want to actually use a level next time I put up shelves.

How often do you still try to wing it before remembering that lesson?

It's funny how often we skip the easy steps until something goes really wrong. That moment when everything falls apart is what finally makes us change. I see this all the time with things like following recipes or putting together furniture. People will guess measurements or force parts together, then boom, it's a mess. Learning the hard way seems to be the only way some lessons stick.
