Just finished my 10,000th brick on the new library project downtown

I was cleaning my trowel at the end of the day and the foreman came over with the count sheet. He told me I'd just laid the 10,000th brick on the new library facade. It kind of hit me, you know? That's a lot of mud and block. I've been doing this for eight years, but I never really kept track of a single job like that. It made me think about all the different walls and chimneys that number represents. Makes you wonder how many bricks a person lays in a whole career. Has anyone else ever had a foreman track something like that for them? What was your number?

Ten thousand bricks on one job is crazy.

Understand that feeling, and I agree with @gavin692 about it being a huge number.

How do you even keep track of that many without losing your mind? I'd be triple checking my count every hour. That's a whole other level of logistics to figure out. Just moving them all sounds like a full time job before you even start building.
