Hit my 10,000th brick laid this week and it got me thinking
I've been keeping a rough count on jobs for the last 3 years just out of curiosity, and when I wrapped up a retaining wall on Tuesday I realized I crossed 10,000 bricks. That number caught me off guard because it's way more than I expected for part time work, and now I'm wondering how many bricks a full timer stacks up in a career. Has anyone else ever tracked their count or am I the only weirdo doing this?

That's actually kind of COOL you kept count. Bet the full timers hit that in a year easy.

Track your personal best too because once you get past a certain point your body stops being sore and that's when you really start stacking. I used to count how many bricks I laid per hour when I did retaining walls and realized my average jumped like 30% when I stopped stopping to check my phone so much. Keep a little tally in your pocket if you want to be serious about it, just a pencil and a scrap of paper folded up works better than any app. Also don't try to match the full timers right away, they've been doing this long enough that their hands move without thinking about it. You'll get there though just keep showing up and the numbers will climb on their own.
