PSA: 15 minute breaks on the couch ruin my afternoons but 15 minutes in the driveway fixed it
For years my work break at home meant flopping on the couch with my phone, and I would come back inside after 15 minutes feeling like I needed a nap. About 4 months ago my wife moved a folding chair out to the driveway near the garage, mostly because she was tired of me tracking grass clippings across the carpet. I started sitting out there for my breaks instead, just the chair, a glass of iced tea, and whatever is going on with the neighbor's dog. The weird part is I get the same 15 minutes, but I go back to work awake instead of foggy. I think it is the sunlight and the fact that I am not staring at a screen the whole time. My afternoon slump basically disappeared within two weeks of switching. Now the folding chair is just permanently out there and my wife jokes that it is my office. Does anyone else have a spot like this?
