My friend swore talking to her plants made them grow faster. I thought it was nuts.

She had two identical pothos plants on her windowsill in Denver. For six weeks, she talked to one and ignored the other. The one she talked to had vines that were a full three inches longer. I still think she might have secretly given it more water. Has anyone else seen something like this work?

Honestly, my aunt did that with her tomatoes and swore it worked too! Ngl, I still think it's the extra carbon dioxide from being close.

Hold up, the carbon dioxide thing makes zero sense. Plants outside get way more air flow and co2 than a couple of people talking near them. If that worked, farmers would just chat to their fields all day. The real answer is probably way simpler, like people just paying more attention to those plants and watering them better without even realizing it. We give the talked-to plants more care and then credit the talking.

That three inch difference in Denver is pretty big. Did she keep a log of exactly how much water and light each plant got, or was it just by feel? I'd want to see a real logbook before believing it was the talking.
