Warning: my buddy told me to stop reading a book if I hated it, and now I have 14 unfinished books on my shelf
Back in January my friend Dave, who runs our Tuesday book club at the library in Boise, told me "life is too short to finish books you don't like, just put it down." So I did that with our February pick, some 700 page Civil War history I was 90 pages into and dreading, and honestly it felt great. The issue is now I bail on almost everything by page 50, and I showed up to our last meeting having quit 4 of the 6 picks since spring. Dave admitted he still finishes everything and just says that to sound wise. Does anyone else have this rule and actually stick to it, or is quitting early just a trap?
