PSA: I picked 'The Road' for my book club and it nearly broke us

I thought it would spark a deep talk about survival, but the meeting in my living room just got super quiet and sad. One person said they couldn't finish it because it was too bleak. Has your club ever had a book that just killed the vibe?

Oh man, we read that a few years back and it was the same story. We ended up talking about the small moments of hope, like the canned peaches, to lighten things up. Maybe try focusing on those glimmers next time? What did you think about the ending, was there any light there for you?

It's funny how that happens with media sometimes. A super heavy movie or book can just shut down a whole room. Makes you pick lighter stuff for group settings after that.
