I spent 3 years judging books by their covers at our club and Priya finally called me out for it
I realized last night at our meeting in Denver that I had skipped reading 4 of our last 8 picks and just faked my way through discussion based on the blurbs on the back. Has anyone else caught themselves doing this, and how do you get back into actually reading the whole book before the meetup?
Been there and it sucks when someone calls it out, but honestly it sounds like you're being way too hard on yourself. Four out of eight is rough, but life gets busy and faking it through book club is basically a time honored tradition. Try picking shorter books for a while or setting a nightly page goal, that's what got me back on track.
