I picked the 600 page doorstop over the 200 page quick read for book club and now half the group won't finish it
Back in January our group in Reno had to pick between two books for the winter slot. We went with the big 612 page one because the shorter pick felt too safe, and I was the one who pushed for it. Now we're meeting next Tuesday and only 4 of the 9 of us are past page 300, so half the room is just going to nod along. How do you all handle it when a long pick splits the group like this?
Ugh, been there. Our fix was splitting the meeting in two, one chat for folks who finished and one for the rest, then we all come together for the last 30 minutes. Sounds dumb but it kept the slow readers from just nodding along and the fast ones didn't have to sit there re-explaining the whole plot.
