Hot take: I used to roll my eyes at people who reread books

Thought it was a waste of time when there's so many new stories out there, but last month I picked up 'The Road' again after 6 years and caught so many details I missed the first time. Has anyone else had a book totally hit different on a reread?

Three years between reads of Blood Meridian and the second time I couldn't stop noticing how funny some of the dialogue is. Is that still a grim book, or did you find yourself laughing at parts of The Road that you missed the first go around?

That's the thing I've noticed about life in general. The SECOND time you do ANYTHING is always different because you're not just looking at the surface anymore. Same reason you can watch your favorite movie five times and catch something new every time, your brain stops trying to figure out what happens next and actually pays attention to the little stuff.

Honestly, re-reading is almost like having a conversation with your past self about what you missed the first time.
