Showerthought: the old hand on my crew said my rolled tube looked like a question mark, and it was true
I was helping roll a 6 foot section of 3/8 inch plate for a small pressure vessel last Tuesday and felt pretty good about the curve until Dave walked by and said it looked like a question mark. He wasn't being mean, he just pointed at where I'd been feeding too fast at the start of the pass. I slowed my feed down and kept the plate tight against the bottom roll the whole way, and the next one came out dead round. Three tries later I could feel the difference in my hands before I even checked it with a template. Any of you got a trick for keeping the lead edge from drifting on short rolls?
