My old foreman in Gary ripped my 6010 rod choice apart and I'm still not sure he was wrong
He grabbed my stinger mid-pass and told me 5P+ was for guys who can't read a weld, then handed me 6010 and made me run a full root on a 6 inch pipe in the shop. I've been running 5P+ on everything for 4 years because it looks smoother, and now I'm second guessing every root I lay down. Any of you run 6010 on pipe roots or am I overthinking what one cranky foreman said?
Man, that reminds me of a boilermaker I worked with who swore by 6010 for everything and would not touch a 7018 rod to save his life. The guy could run a root like nobody's business but his cap looked like a corn cob, and he did not care one bit. Point is every rod has its place and a foreman handing you one to prove something does not mean the other rod is trash.
