Appreciation post: the $12 pipe wrap from the supply house in Gary actually holds up
I figured it was throwaway junk when the counter guy pushed it on me for a 40 foot run of 6 inch steam line last winter. Checked it at the 8 month mark and the joints were still tight with no cracking, which is more than I can say for the brand I used for years. Anybody running something cheaper that lasts, or am I just paying for the name at this point?

Been using that same cheap wrap for two seasons now on a 30 foot run and it still looks fresh. The fancy brand I ran for years started cracking around month 10 every single time. Price does not always mean quality. Sometimes the cheap stuff just works.
