Stuck with ghost photos from my cousin's wedding in Tulsa

Last weekend I shot my cousin's wedding reception and every dance floor photo came out looking like a ghost swarm... people moving left blurry trails everywhere. I had the shutter too slow, like 1/15, cause I was scared to bump the ISO on my old camera body. Bright flashes at the cake cutting turned everyone's faces into white blobs too... totally gutted cause I missed the bouquet toss moment. Should I try a faster lens or just invest in an off-camera flash for dark indoor events like this?

Ghost photos at a wedding sounds like a weird sequel nobody asked for. Shooting at 1/15 on a dance floor is basically asking the DJ to help you paint light trails with your subjects. The white blob faces are just your flash saying hi way too close to the action. A faster lens won't fix shutter speed choices, but a decent off camera flash and learning to drag the shutter a bit would help a ton.
