Ive been messing with my phone camera for months trying to get decent shots of my dogs at dusk and they always came out as grainy blobs. Last week I went to a local dog park in Phoenix and forced myself to show up at 5pm instead of 7pm for a change. The difference was honestly stupid. Golden hour light meant my shutter speed could actually keep up with a moving lab instead of bumping ISO to 3200 and getting noise everywhere. I compared the same dog chasing a ball in both light sessions and the 5pm set had sharp fur detail and even caught the grass texture. My phone has a basic pro mode so I locked ISO at 100 and let the camera pick everything else. Has anyone else given up on low light action shots and just shifted their whole schedule? Im about to make dinner at 4pm just to catch that window again lol.
The ISO 100 lock is a total game changer, I do the same thing with my shepherd at the park near my place around 5:30 and the fur actually looks like fur instead of static. I shot at dusk for like a year thinking my phone just sucked and then felt like an idiot the first time I tried it earlier. My dog is gonna be real confused when dinner starts at 4:30 from now on lol.
