A clerk at the Rapid City Walmart said my phone flash was the problem, and 40 blurry birthday pics later I finally believe her
My niece turned 7 two weekends ago and every single candle shot came out as a smear of orange light. I kept blaming my hands and trying the steady elbows trick, but the clerk who sold me the phone last fall told me the flash on these cheap phones fires too slow in dark rooms and I should just turn it off and use a lamp behind me instead. I tried it at her actual party with a floor lamp from the hallway and got 12 shots in a row that were actually sharp. Kind of mad I argued with her about it at the time. So do I just never use the flash again, or are there times it still helps?
Kept making the same mistake at my cousin's grad party, flash on, every pic washed out and fuzzy. Turned it off and just used the porch light behind me and they came out way better. I still use flash if it's pitch black and there's nothing to bounce light off, but honestly in most rooms a lamp or window beats it every time.
