Blowing up charcoal vs. buying coal, man I miss the old days

I used to hand-crack a cast iron blower over a charcoal fire back in 2009 behind my uncle's shed in Missoula, but now I just flip a switch on my gas forge and it's not the same, anyone else feel like the heat's got less soul when you don't have to work for it?
