Tried watching 'The Wire' after 'Breaking Bad' and the difference was huge

Started with the faster pace of 'Breaking Bad' and almost gave up on 'The Wire' after two episodes because it felt slow. Stuck with it and the depth of the city's story completely hooked me by season two. Anyone else find a show that was a slow burn but totally worth it?
