TIL binging one season a week beats binging the whole show in one weekend
Watched all 4 seasons of a show in 3 days last month and by the end I couldn't remember who half the side characters were or why I even cared. Started a different show after that and did one season per week, and last night I caught a callback to something from episode 2 that I would have totally missed if I binged it. The week gap gives your brain time to actually chew on it. Anyone else switch to slower watching on purpose, or am I just getting old?
The "week gap gives your brain time to actually chew on it" thing is real but I think it's less about time passing and more about sleep. Your brain files memories during sleep, so watching 4 seasons in 3 days means you're cramming way more in than your brain can store. Also the spacing effect is a thing in learning research, you remember stuff better when study sessions are spread out instead of crammed together. So it's not that you're getting old, you just accidentally ran a real memory experiment on yourself.
